Network setup

Network Setup guidelines

ENSURE

  • Single Server Configuration: A single computer is configured as the server.
  • Server setup: Ensure that the server is not connected to Wi-Fi (Step 5)

Connect the Server

Begin by directly connecting a router to the server.

SERVER

  • In this setup, “server” isn’t a specific computer it can be any relatively fast computer, with an Ethernet port chosen by YOU.
  • Ensure the Role in reconfigure is set to server.

Router Placement

If you’re using two routers;

  • One router physically connects to the server, the other one connects to the first one using an ethernet cable.
  • Keep the routers as far apart as possible

Ethernet for clients

Whenever possible, use Ethernet connections for clients to minimize network load.

Reconfigure the clients

Ensure that computers are configured for the nearest WiFi network.

Disable Wi-Fi for wired clients

For the computers on ethernet (This includes server), disable wifi, either by using the applet or hardware switch.

Balance the load

Balance the load by ensuring an even distribution of clients across routers to avoid network congestion.”
